The Designs

Lloydesign have recently spent time researching LED’s and have exploited their potential in an exciting new way, by incorporating them into freestanding furniture.

The furniture comes with a multi function remote control that adjusts the light, either ranging slowly through the complete colour spectrum, or as a particular static colour, enhancing the glass and timber used in the piece. Their beauty is stunning and takes everyone by surprise.

LED’s have an incredible pureness of light, run for up to 100,000 hours on a very low power input, giving off negligible heat. This makes them ideally suited for this application. They are the ecological future as far as lighting is concerned, using a mere 20% of the energy of conventional lighting and without the waste problem of mercury to contend with.

Even the pieces that do not use light in an explicit way, such as LED’s, use light, or the absence of it in their design, such as the sand blasted bamboo which projects a shadow to the shelf below.

Another use of ground breaking technology that Lloydesign make use of is water jet cutting. This technique is able to cut completely though thick glass, forming a desired pattern. Mezera is one such design but it could be anything. Send us your ideas and we’ll see what we can do.

We like to think we provide imaginative and interesting pieces that somehow blur the boundaries between furniture, sculpture and design. It is our hope that you think so too.

We have an uncompromising attitude towards quality. Every item of furniture that we make is to order, sourcing the best materials available and using sustainably managed timbers from the UK where possible. We say we use solid hardwoods and we do! Not a veneered mdf board that could be exposed later on. This, needless to say has to be reflected in our costs. But, we hope, a price worth paying.

We provide consultation through every stage of the design process so we make certain you are getting exactly what you want, providing drawings if necessary. You, the customer can become involved in the design process as much or as little as you like.
